ECHO Overcast Fly Rod Series

Built for Maximum Line Speed in Saltwater Conditions

When Flip Pallot challenged ECHO to answer a simple question—“Who wouldn’t want more line speed?”—the Overcast series was born. Designed in collaboration with Tim Rajeff, Overcast fly rods are purpose-built for saltwater anglers facing the usual saltwater challenges: wind, distance, accuracy demands, and heavier flies.

After extensive testing, the Tim and Flip determined that increased line speed starts with a precisely engineered, longer lever. The result is a 9’3” rod that balances power, control, and casting efficiency without compromise.

Flip’s vision pushed ECHO beyond our traditional design limits, prioritizing performance over cost and redefining what a high-end saltwater fly rod should be.

Key Features
• Optimized 9’3” Length for increased line speed and control
• 6–10 Weight Range designed for demanding saltwater applications
• Matte Black Blank with Red Wraps for a clean, purposeful aesthetic
• Ceracoil Stripper Guides with SIC Inserts for durability and reduced friction
• TICN-Coated Snake Guides to further improve line speed
• Flip Pallot–Designed Modified Full Wells Grip with exposed upper reel seat
• Custom Reel Seat with Visual cues for reel feet and integrated hook keeper
• Line-Weight Identification Wraps using a classic, at-a-glance thread system
• ECHO Rod Roll: impact-resistant, roll-style rod case that can carry up to three rods and meets carry-on requirements

Legacy Design

The OverCast series represents over a year of development and testing, much of it spent in Florida’s toughest saltwater conditions. Though Flip passed before final production, his vision, creativity, and passion are fully realized in the OverCast rod series. Flip’s OverCast will remain his lasting legacy at ECHO and a benchmark for our future saltwater rod designs.

A Lifetime on the Water

After a lifetime on the water, Flip Pallot knew what he wanted from a fly rod. It should be light in hand. It should be firm, but not fast. It should be powerful enough to punch a cast into the wind. But it should still have soul—with enough feel to toss a tight loop at twelve feet.

Power and Soul

When the legendary outdoorsman told us what he wanted, the ECHO design team went to work. Together, we arrived at the ECHO Overcast. Offered in line weights 6 through 10, the Overcast is a firm, powerful rod with enough feel to make the short, accurate casts crucial to success in the mangroves, on the flats, and beyond.

The Challenge

The ECHO Overcast started as a design challenge. Flip wanted more linespeed from a fly rod without making it faster and stiffer. By extending the length to 9’3, the Overcast generates higher line speeds without sacrificing the feel required precise casts in tight quarters.

Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance:

Wash all components with warm freshwater after each days use in saltwater. Pay extra attention to the space where the guides meet the blank and the metal parts of the reel seat. Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Paraffin wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit.

Do not use tape on your ferrules. If you do we’ll come steal all your bacon and PBR.
