Kayla Katayama was born on Oahu, Hawaii where she learned to stalk the flats for fish with her dad at a very young age, developing a passion for fishing. Kayla will be graduating from CSU Chico in the Spring of 2018, and looks forward to a lifelong journey of teaching, fly fishing, and guiding in Northern California . Not only does she devote all of her time to pursuing her passion for fly fishing, she is passionate about guiding and takes every opportunity she can to expand her fly fishing skills. Since living in Chico, she guides the Lower Sacramento River and Feather River out of her Hyde aluminum drift boat. In addition to guiding independently, she also guides for Jack Trout Fly Fishing, & the Fish First Fly Shop! in NorCal. Kayla is a versatile angler, and can also be found out on Lake Oroville targeting aggressive bass on the fly. When Kayla is not in the classroom or guiding, she spends her time chasing fish and rowing her drift boat with her dog, Finley. Out on the water, Kayla values fun, learning, conservation, safety and helping anglers create memories that last a lifetime.
